Nova Scotia Nursing Licensing Exam Prep: Free Diagnostic Access

Free, one-week access to CCEC's diagnostic tests for the nursing licensing exams used in Nova Scotia: the NCLEX-RN (registered nurses) and the CPNRE (licensed practical nurses). Take the diagnostic for your exam and see your results by area before your exam date. No fee, no lectures and no scheduled sessions.

Is this exam for you?

  • Registered Nurse (RN). Exam: NCLEX-RN. Regulator: the Nova Scotia Nursing and Midwifery Regulator (NSNMR).
  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). Exam: CPNRE (Canadian Practical Nurse Registration Examination). Regulator: the Nova Scotia Nursing and Midwifery Regulator (NSNMR).

The official exams

  • NCLEX-RN: computer adaptive, 85 to 150 questions (15 of them unscored), up to 5 hours, booked through Pearson VUE.
  • CPNRE: 160 to 170 multiple-choice questions, 4 hours, run by Meazure Learning.

What you get, free of charge

  • A timed diagnostic for your exam: 40 questions, one attempt, at the pace of the real exam, with instant scoring and a breakdown by area.
  • Access for one week from approval.

Ready for the area quizzes and timed mock exams? See Mock Exam Access (Standard CAD 29 per exam, Full Access CAD 49 per exam, Nova Scotia Nursing Combo CAD 89).

Who can register

To register you need:

  • To be preparing for the NCLEX-RN or CPNRE as a candidate for registration with the Nova Scotia Nursing and Midwifery Regulator (NSNMR)
  • A valid government photo ID and proof of your exam booking or exam eligibility showing your exam date or writing window (uploaded with the Mock exam document upload form within 3 days of registering; the link is in your registration confirmation email)

Eligibility to write is decided by the Nova Scotia Nursing and Midwifery Regulator (NSNMR). Registration requirements (for example education, language and practice requirements) are set by the regulator, not by CCEC.

How free registration works

  1. Complete the registration form, including the eligibility declaration. There is no payment step: your registration is submitted as soon as the form is complete. Then upload a copy of your government photo ID and proof of your exam booking or exam eligibility using the Mock exam document upload form (the link is in your registration confirmation email), with the same email address you registered with, within 3 days.
  2. Assessment. Your details and documents are checked against the eligibility requirements, usually within a few hours if everything is in order. If our Admissions team needs anything else, you are told exactly what to send and by when. If your documents have not arrived, you receive reminders, the first about 2 hours after registering.
  3. Access. If approved, you receive your access email with the link, your access code and your access end date, one week from approval. If not approved, you are told why.

One free registration

One free registration per person. Free Diagnostic Access cannot be extended or repeated; for continued access, register for Mock Exam Access.
