LLQP Exam Prep: Free Diagnostic Access

Free, one-week access to CCEC's LLQP (Life Licence Qualification Program) diagnostic mock exams. The LLQP is the licensing exam you must pass to sell life insurance or accident and sickness insurance in any Canadian province or territory except Quebec. Take a diagnostic test in each of the four modules, see where you stand before your exam date, and read an explanation for every answer. No fee, no lectures and no scheduled sessions.

Who this is for

Access to these mock exams is for people getting licensed to sell life insurance or health insurance, such as disability, critical illness and dental plans. In everyday terms, that means future life and health insurance agents, advisors and brokers. You can register only after you finish the LLQP course.

Is this exam for you?

You write the LLQP exam if you want a licence to sell life insurance or accident and sickness insurance in any province or territory except Quebec. Common jobs:

  • Life insurance agent (also called life insurance representative or life insurance advisor). You sell life insurance: a policy that pays money to the people the client names when the insured person dies. Licence: life insurance licence. Modules: all four.
  • Accident and sickness (A&S) insurance agent. You sell insurance that pays when a person is injured or ill:
    • disability insurance, which replaces income when the person cannot work
    • critical illness insurance, a lump-sum payment after a diagnosis of a covered illness
    • long-term care insurance
    • health and dental plans
Licence: accident and sickness licence. Modules: Accident and Sickness, plus Ethics and Professional Practice.
  • Financial advisor or mutual fund representative who also wants to sell segregated funds or annuities. A segregated fund is an investment fund sold by an insurance company, with a guarantee on part of the money invested. An annuity is a contract that pays the client a regular income, often in retirement. Segregated funds are sold by licensed life insurance agents. Licence: life insurance licence. Modules: all four.
  • Group insurance or group benefits representative. You sell life, disability, health and dental plans that employers buy for their employees. The LLQP modules cover group plans as well as individual plans.

Not covered:

  • Quebec. Quebec uses its own exam with a Civil Code Ethics module. These mock exams cover the Common Law version only.
  • Auto, home and business insurance (property and casualty). In Ontario this needs a general insurance agent licence and a different exam (the OTL exam, or the RIBO exam for brokers). The LLQP is not that exam.

The official exam (curriculum set by CISRO, the Canadian Insurance Services Regulatory Organizations)

  • Four modules: Life Insurance; Accident and Sickness Insurance; Segregated Funds and Annuities; Ethics and Professional Practice (Common Law)
  • Life Insurance, Accident and Sickness, and Segregated Funds and Annuities: 35 multiple-choice questions each; Ethics: 25 questions; 75 minutes per module
  • Pass mark: 60% on each module
  • To write the exam you need the certificate of completion of the LLQP prerequisite course and its course exam

What you get, free of charge

  • Four timed diagnostics, one per module (15 questions in 32 minutes for Life Insurance, Accident and Sickness, and Segregated Funds and Annuities; 10 questions in 30 minutes for Ethics), with instant scoring and a breakdown by competency area
  • Access for one week from approval

Ready for the competency quizzes and timed mock exams? See Mock Exam Access (CAD 29 per module, or all 4 modules for CAD 89).

Who can register

The eligibility standard follows the rule for writing the official LLQP exam:

  • You have completed the LLQP prerequisite course and its course exam with a provider approved by your provincial or territorial insurance regulator
  • You are preparing for the Common Law version of the exam (outside Quebec)
  • Your CIPR number (Canadian Insurance Participant Registry)
  • A valid photo ID, your LLQP course completion certificate and proof of your LLQP exam registration showing your exam date (uploaded with the Mock exam document upload form within 3 days of registering; the link is in your registration confirmation email)

How free registration works

  1. Complete the registration form, including the eligibility declaration and your CIPR number. There is no payment step: your registration is submitted as soon as the form is complete. Then upload a copy of your government photo ID, your LLQP course completion certificate and proof of your LLQP exam registration using the Mock exam document upload form (the link is in your registration confirmation email), with the same email address you registered with, within 3 days.
  2. Assessment. Your details and documents are checked against the eligibility requirements, usually within a few hours if everything is in order. You receive an email as soon as your documents arrive. If our Admissions team needs anything else, you are told exactly what to send and by when. If no documents arrive within 1 hour of registering, you receive one reminder.
  3. Access. If approved, you receive your access email with the link, your access code and your access end date, one week from approval. If not approved, you are told why.

One free registration per person. Free Diagnostic Access cannot be extended or repeated; for continued access, register for Mock Exam Access.
