In current time, architectural drafting is no longer just about drawing lines; it’s about managing intelligent data. For Category 1 (Continuing Professional Development). AI-Augmented Drafting and Modern Compliance.
This program is designed for those who need to master the shift from traditional CAD to AI-driven workflows and the latest Ontario building policies.
The industry has shifted. To stay competitive in 2026, professionals must blend traditional technical accuracy with the speed of Artificial Intelligence. This 40-hour Continuing Professional Development (CPD) course at Can-college is a deep dive into the "New Standard"—integrating AI-driven generative design with the rigorous demands of Ontario’s current building codes.
This category of the program is also perfect for those who already have skin in the game or just want to "talk the talk" with contractors and inspectors. In the fast-paced world of construction and design, "knowing the basics" isn't enough you need to stay ahead of evolving building codes, new digital tools, and industry policies.
AI-Driven Generative Design: Learn to use AI to rapidly iterate floor plans and massing models while maintaining 100% technical accuracy.
Automated Compliance & Zoning: Master the use of AI tools to cross-reference your drafts against local Vaughan and Ontario building codes in real-time.
Concept-to-Render Workflows: Utilize AI image-to-geometry tools to turn rough conceptual sketches into professional, editable CAD layouts.
Generative Space Planning: Use AI to generate 50+ floor plan variations based on specific site constraints and the 2026 Ontario Building Code.
Automated Compliance Checking: Learn to use AI plugins that "read" your drafts and flag potential zoning or safety violations before you submit for permits.
Prompt Engineering for Architects: Master the art of technical prompting to control AI-generated designs with architectural precision (materiality, lighting, and structural logic).
Policy-Driven Design: Deep dive into how the latest Ontario "Missing Middle" housing policies can be modeled faster using generative AI tools
Policy Interpretation: Navigate the 2026 shifts in residential density and sustainable building policies that now dictate drafting standards in Ontario.
You will gain hands-on experience with the specific tools that are currently transforming Vaughan’s construction landscape:
Autodesk Forma: For AI-driven site analysis and rapid conceptual massing.
Veras AI: An industry-leading engine for transforming 3D geometry into photorealistic, code-aware renderings instantly.
Maket.ai: Specialized in generative residential floor planning and automated zoning research.
SketchUp Diffusion: Using stable diffusion to iterate architectural styles directly within your drafting environment.
Bluebeam Max: For AI-assisted takeoff and automated submittal reviews.
The AI-Ready Professional: Architects and technicians who want to integrate tools like Autodesk Forma and Bluebeam Max into their daily drafting workflow.
The Technical Consultant: Small business owners and trades leaders who need to interpret AI-generated massing studies and ensure they meet strict municipal zoning bylaws.
