    This program has been “Approved as a vocational program under the Ontario Career Colleges Act, 2005”

    The program gives you the focused, relevant training needed to understand and prepare for the Canadian standards and licensing exam prep, to work in retail and community pharmacies. In the program, you'll understand to upgrade or develop your skills in compounding, pharmacology, drug and medical terminology according to the Canadian Standards. Community pharmacists and hospital pharmacists compound and dispense prescribed pharmaceuticals and provide consultative services to both clients and health care providers. They are employed in retail and health centre pharmacies, or they may be self-employed. Industrial pharmacists participate in the research, development, promotion and manufacture of pharmaceutical products. They are employed in pharmaceutical companies and government departments and agencies.

    Employment requirements

    • A university degree in pharmacy and a period of supervised practical training are required.
    • Licensure is required in all provinces and territories for community and hospital pharmacists.
    • Working under the direction of a pharmacist does not require license in most jurisdictions.
