Recommended documents depend on your background:
Current Professionals
- Proof of current employment in the electrical trade, or a valid journeyperson or apprentice registration, to skip foundational assessments.
- A brief summary of your current tool and code knowledge, so instructors can tailor the course to your sector.
General Interest
- Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent; or the Mature Student Assessment (MSA), which includes a technical literacy assessment. Learn about mature student status.
- A brief statement of why you want to take the course.
International Professionals
- Proof of professional experience or education from your home country.
- English skills sufficient to read the Canadian Electrical Code and safety requirements.
All online applicants: access to a computer that can run the AI diagnostic tools used in the course.
International Applicants
- Applicants from any country are welcome.
- This course runs less than six months. A study permit and a Provincial Attestation Letter (PAL) are not required. Applicants in Canada are responsible for making sure their status allows short-term study.
- Completion does not qualify a student for a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP).
Delivery and Assessment
100% Online
Self-paced study through the College learning management system (LMS), with real-time instructor support. Practical skills are assessed through instructor-monitored online evaluations.
100% In Person (Vaughan Campus)
Instructor-led classes with hands-on practical training. Attendance requirements are set out in the course syllabus.
In both formats, written examinations are completed online and are open-book. LMS orientation details are provided to all students before classes begin. Online students must meet the College System Requirements.

- This course is professional development. It is not a licence to perform electrical work. In Ontario, 309A and 442A electrician certification requires apprenticeship registration with Skilled Trades Ontario and documented work hours.
