Academic Grading and Standing Policy

Standard Grading Scale

All vocational programs use this grading scale. The minimum passing grade is 60%.

Academic Progression and Probation

• Minimum standing: keep a cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least 2.0 (C) to stay in good academic standing.
• Academic probation: a student whose cumulative GPA falls below 2.0, or who fails a vocational module, is placed on academic probation.
• Academic success plan: a student on probation receives a written Academic Probation Warning and must meet with the Academic Dean to set up a structured academic success plan.
• Not progressing: if the cumulative GPA is not raised above 2.0 within the probation period, the student may be suspended or dismissed under the College’s Student Expulsion Policy.

Graduation Requirements

To graduate from an approved vocational program and receive a CCEC diploma or certificate, a student must:

• Academic: pass all required course modules, and any clinical or co-op placements, with a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0.
• Attendance: meet the minimum attendance of 80% in every scheduled course module.
• Financial: pay all outstanding tuition, fees, and other balances in full. The College does not issue official credentials to students with an outstanding balance.
