International Student Program (ISP)

Study Permits

• International students enrolled at a DLI in a program longer than six months must have a study permit. You are responsible for keeping your study permit valid at all times.
• Most new study permit applications need a Provincial Attestation Letter (PAL). See Provincial Attestation Letter.
• Programs of six months or less, and online distance study from outside Canada, do not require a study permit.

How to Start

You do not need an agent or consultant to apply. Admission decisions and the Letter of Acceptance (LOA) come directly from the College.

When and How to Apply

• Apply early. We recommend applying about six months before your program start date. For example, apply before April 1 to start in September.
• The complete admission process can take 30 to 45 days.
• Applications are 100% online. The application form, submission, and initial assessment are free.
• Review the International Admission Requirements so your application is complete when you submit it.
• Many applicants can apply without an IELTS score. See the admission requirements for English language options.

Costs and Funding

• Tuition is listed on each program page. See All Programs and Money Matters for International Students.
• You do not have to pay the full tuition up front to receive an admission decision. CCEC offers instalment plans for eligible students. See Student Loans and Financial Aid and How to Pay Tuition Fees and Dues.
• A study permit application requires proof that you can pay tuition, living costs, and return travel.
• International students are generally not eligible for Canadian government student loans. The College does not currently offer its own scholarships.

Leave of Absence

• A leave of absence must be authorized in writing by the Registrar's Office. During an approved leave you cannot attend classes or write exams. Continuing to study online is not a leave, so the College cannot issue a leave letter in that case.
• Under IRCC guidance, an authorized leave should not exceed 150 days from the date it starts. Students must keep actively pursuing their studies and making reasonable progress toward completing their program. See IRCC: assessing study permit conditions.
• A leave means you will not graduate with your class on the current schedule, because you will miss classes and exams.
• If you plan to leave Canada during your studies, consult a licensed representative about your study permit conditions and re-entry before you travel.

Living in Canada

• CCEC does not provide housing and is not responsible for accommodation. Students arrange their own housing. Housing is not required before you enter Canada or apply for a study visa.
• CCEC is not affiliated with any health insurance provider. Students arrange their own health coverage.
• Academic integrity means honesty in your academic work. Read and follow the College's academic policies.
