International Students · Inside Canada Study Permit: Extend, Renew, or Restore Inside CanadaOptions for international students who are already in Canada. CCEC staff cannot give immigration advice. For advice about your own case, consult a licensed Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant (RCIC) or a lawyer. Always check current rules on the IRCC website. For general information, see the International Student Program guide. Option 1: Extend Your Study PermitIf you are a current CCEC student and your study permit expires before you finish your program, you can ask the College for documents that support your extension application. Apply to IRCC before your permit expires. A PAL is not needed for an extension at the same DLI and level of study. See Extending a Study Permit From Inside Canada. Option 2: Start a New Program at CCECIf you have completed, or are close to completing, your program and want to continue in a new program, you can apply for a new admission. If you are accepted, CCEC provides documents to support your study permit application. As a continuing student extending your study permit at CCEC for the new program, you do not need a PAL. Option 3: Restore Your StatusIf your study permit has expired, you may be able to apply to restore your status within 90 days of losing it. You must apply for a new study permit, pay the restoration fee, and you cannot study until your status is restored. If you need a new admission, you can apply to CCEC. See IRCC: if your permit expired. Option 4: Transfer to CCEC From Another SchoolPost-secondary students who want to change to a new DLI must apply to extend their study permit before changing schools, and need a new PAL unless an exemption applies. In most cases you must wait for approval before you start at the new school. See Transfer Student Admission Process and IRCC: changing your school or program. Staying Compliant
