Can-College's bridge training programs vary widely, but generally assess your skills, compare them to Canadian licensing and employer expectations, and provide the required guidance and training necessary to achieve required goals without studying all over again.

Our programs do not require or approved to qualify the required registration with a regulatory body in all provinces and territories for the licensing.
​For international applicants:

• This program does not require a Student Visa or Permit due to its service type and need.
  
• Provincial Attestation Letter (PAL) is not required to study in this program.

o be eligible for the bridge training program, you must:be at least 18 years old or higher

• have international post-secondary education
  
• have international work experience in your occupation
  
• have English language proficiency
  

 In addition, you must be one of the following:

• Be physically in Canada with a legal permanent or temporary status (Such as Visitor, Foreign national having valid study or work visa-permit).
• If you are outside Canada, you can apply for a short study visa, no PAL required.

Short study visa or permit applications do not require PAL (Provincial Attestation Letter) because the program duration is 6 months or less. Please read the following statutory reference from the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations (SOR/2002-227)

" While a study permit is not required for short-term courses, an officer must accept and process an application for a study permit, even when the duration of the course or program of study is 6 months or less [R188(2)].

A program for new immigrants and foreign nationals. Changing the system for an alternative career without studying all over again.

Background:   
In Canada, about 20 percent of jobs are regulated to protect the health and safety of the public by ensuring that professionals and tradespeople meet the required standards of practice and competency. As a general rule, if your chosen occupation is:

• regulated, the recognition of your qualifications will be determined by the appropriate provincial or territorial regulatory authority
• non-regulated, recognition is normally at the discretion of the employer​

The law requires you to obtain a certificate, license, or registration to use the reserved title for the occupation, or obtain the exclusive right to practice the occupation in Canada or overseas under the Canadian Licensing Standard. These regulations are intended to protect the safety of Canadians and the general public by ensuring that professionals meet the required standards of practice and competency.

For example, all Canadian citizens or permanent residents do not require a work permit or any other immigration status besides having a license in such occupation(s). However, foreign nationals who wish to work or practice in a regulated profession/occupation must equally meet required licensing standards, even if they don't have an immigration status in Canada but wish to have the Canadian license to serve the Canadian interest worldwide.  A foreign-trained lawyer, physician or CGA, CPA, RN, and others may apply and get a license from the Canadian body even if they are not Canadian citizens or residents.

Canadian business and employers prefer to work with professionals who are licensed under the Canadian Jurisdiction/body.

The Can-College Bridge Training Program helps eligible internationally trained professionals enter the Canadian and/or any other global workforce.

Can-College Program Objectives:

There are several programs offered by organizations and governments in both the provincial and federal levels that are focused on training Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or individuals who have a current permanent status to enter the Canadian workforce. Foreign nationals outside Canada are not covered under these programs.

Can-College Bridge Training Program is unique in that it offers services to all regardless of the applicant’s status in Canada or overseas.

Regulatory authorities, professional associations, apprenticeship offices, and employers determine the requirements and procedures for assessing and recognizing your qualifications.

Note​: Requirements differ for each occupation and may differ from one province or territory to another. It is therefore very important to understand and process requirements of the relevant regulatory authority, professional association, or apprenticeship office in the jurisdiction in which you wish to work in Canada or in the global market.
