Study Programs Without a PAL

Short Study and Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programs at Canadian Career Education College (CCEC) can be completed without a study permit or a Provincial Attestation Letter (PAL). The Six-Month Exemption

Under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations, a foreign national may study in Canada without a study permit if the course or program lasts six months or less and will be completed within the period of stay authorized on entry [R188(1)(c)]. Our Short Study and CPD programs are designed to be completed within that time. See IRCC: who doesn’t need a study permit.

How You Can Complete Your Studies

Option A: Online From Your Home Country

If you study entirely online from outside Canada, you do not need a Canadian visa, eTA, or study permit.

Option B: In Person in Canada

If you are visiting Canada or travel to Canada for an in-class module at our Vaughan campus, you may study in these short programs with visitor status. You still need the right travel document, such as a visitor visa (TRV) or eTA, to enter and stay in Canada.

What These Programs Do Not Provide

No PAL: because a study permit is not required, applicants do not need, and will not be issued, a PAL.
No PGWP: completing these programs does not qualify a student for a Post-Graduation Work Permit.
Longer study: if you plan to continue into a program longer than six months, you may need a study permit for that program. IRCC explains when you may want a study permit even if you do not need one.

If you are a foreign national with a pending application for one of these programs and wish to continue, respond to the Admissions team within 3 business days.
