Educator; The Honorable Justice Rick Libman. PhD, LLM, LLB, BA, of the Ontario Court of Justice
Justice Libman has extensive experience teaching NCA accredited courses for over 15 years. He has taught NCA courses in many areas, such as criminal law, constitutional law, administrative law, professional responsibility, and foundations of Canadian law, at the University of Toronto, Bond University, and Canadian Career Education College.
Our NCA exam preparation courses are meticulously aligned with the most current available NCA syllabus and prescribed coursebooks.
Beyond simply reviewing substantive law, these sessions are designed to deconstruct the "nuts and bolts" of legal academic writing. Our educators use a step-by-step analytical approach to help you master the legal complexities of each subject. We aim to build your confidence in exam writing, moving beyond the pressure of "putting pen to paper" to a place of strategic, structured execution.
Each subject is delivered as a single, high-intensity prep session, available in both Live Online and Recorded Video formats.
Substantive Law Review: A deep dive into major pillars of the subject as defined by the current NCA syllabus and directives.
Case Law Analysis: Guided discussions on pivotal case laws and essential legal references.
Decoding NCA Questions: Strategies to interpret complex exam prompts and structure your responses for maximum points.
Applied Practice: Review of sample NCA exams and questions, paired with "best-practice" model answers.
Live Interactive Q&A: Opportunity for real-time clarification and direct feedback from the educator during live sessions.
Strategic Methodology: Mastery of time management and writing techniques for Essay, Fact Pattern, and I.R.A.C. (Issue, Rule, Analysis, Conclusion) based questions.
Exam-Day Readiness: A comprehensive overview of NCA exam rules and logistical tips to ensure you are fully prepared for the actual test day.
The National Committee on Accreditation (NCA) is the national body responsible for assessing the legal education and professional experience of individuals who earned their law credentials outside of Canada (or in a Canadian Civil Law program, such as in Quebec).
If you want to practice law in a common-law province or territory in Canada (everywhere except Quebec), the NCA is the first gatekeeper you must pass through.
Assessment: You submit your foreign transcripts and work history to the NCA. They review your file to see how your education compares to a Canadian Juris Doctor (JD) or Bachelor of Laws (LLB).
Assignments: The NCA will issue an assessment report telling you which "assignments" you must complete. These are usually a series of Challenge Exams (typically 5 to 10 subjects) or a requirement to take specific courses at a Canadian law school.
Completion: This is where Can College comes in. Most students choose the "Challenge Exam" route because it is faster and more cost-effective. We provide the expert-led prep courses (like those with Justice Rick Libman) to help you pass these exams.
Certificate of Qualification: Once you pass your assigned exams, the NCA issues you a Certificate of Qualification (CQ). This certificate proves your legal knowledge is equivalent to a Canadian law graduate
